The Goal of Football Towels

　　Football is a sweaty game. The players run around a lot and also wear a lot of heavy equipment, which can cause them to sweat. Sweaty hands and forearms can cause players to fumble the ball and miss a crucial play. Quarterbacks, especially, need to keep their hands dry to maintain control of the ball. One way to do this is with athletic towels.

　　Since football is played outdoors, the elements can also wreak havoc with plays. Drizzle, rain, fog and other weather conditions can cause moisture to gather on the players and on the ball. Athletic towels let players wipe off their hands, faces and even the ball itself to allow the game to go on. Wet hands and footballs can make catching and throwing difficult, so having some way to keep everything dry is essential for a win.

　　The mud and dirt of football can also create problems. Mud and debris can splatter on the ball and even on players’ faces, making passes tough or obscuring vision. With a football towel on hand, centers and quarterbacks can wipe off any dirt from their hands or from the ball.

　　Dry arms can mean the difference between a successful play and a loss. Running backs often use towels to dry their forearms so they can carry the ball more firmly. Even wide receivers, who usually wear gloves for better ball control, use towels to keep their arms dry.
